Profile

Software & AI Engineer with an MSc in Software Engineering from the University of Amsterdam and hands-on experience building backend and AI systems in business-critical environments. Comfortable with Python, cloud and DevOps (Azure, Docker, Kubernetes) and applied AI (RAG, Microsoft Foundry, multi-agent workflows) in Scrum teams. Looking for an ambitious environment where there is a lot to learn and real impact to make.

The first role where I own an AI system end to end rather than one feature of it. The hard part turned out to be everything around the model: keeping the context an agent retrieves accurate, proving output quality with an evaluation set instead of a convincing demo, and designing for the fact that an insurance advisor is not allowed to be wrong. I learned to treat prompts and agent graphs as software — versioned, monitored and tested like the rest of the stack.

    • Design and build a multi-platform AI advisory chatbot on Microsoft Foundry, driven by a multi-agent workflow, as part of a Scrum team.
    • Set up secure MCP servers and vector stores that let agents query customer and policy data on demand for more accurate, context-aware advice.
    • Implemented monitoring of agent interactions, enabling continuous feedback loops and targeted optimisation of system prompts.
    • Built an event-driven pipeline that automatically analyses and assesses insurance claims across multiple products, saving the equivalent of 2 FTE.
    • Established an evaluation framework that measures the quality of agent output using a golden set and LLM-as-a-judge.

Where I found out what "business-critical" actually means. AFD 2 is a national standard with no room for interpretation, so most of the work was reading specifications precisely, modelling the data exactly as prescribed, and building APIs that external partners could integrate against without needing a support call. It was also my first real exposure to API gateways, security and the human side of onboarding a partner.

    • Developed REST APIs for large-scale portfolio transfers compliant with AFD 2, the national Dutch insurance data-exchange standard, within a Scrum team.
    • Configured Azure API Management as a secure gateway and handled technical onboarding of external partners, contributing to 15% premium growth.

Six months on a single research question, which taught me more about scoping than any course did. Writing an ANTLR parser meant learning to reason about code as data: static analysis of variables and types in a language I did not know well when I started, with a front end on top so researchers could actually use the result.

    • Researched and implemented a Python system with an ANTLR parser that automatically detects the inputs and outputs of R code cells in Jupyter Notebooks through variable and data-type analysis, enabling containerisation of cloud workflows.
    • Built a dynamic front end in TypeScript and React for visual interaction within the NaaVRE platform.

My first look at a production AI pipeline inside a newsroom. The lesson stuck: a model nobody understands does not get used. Making the pipeline explainable mattered more to the News team than making it more accurate — which is still how I think about AI systems today.

    • Implemented an Explainable AI (XAI) visualisation system for RTL’s VideoPipe AI pipeline to make internal data processes more transparent.
    • The system improved understanding and transparency of the AI pipeline within the RTL News team, confirmed through an internal survey.

Projects

DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure

Jan – Apr 2024

Migrated a monolith to Azure Kubernetes Service, with CI/CD and infrastructure as code.

  • Migrated a monolithic application to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) within a DevOps team, using Python Flask and Docker for parallel processing, monitored with Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and Ansible for automated infrastructure provisioning.
